Our Story

From a #PinterestFail to an Inspired Shop...

In 2017, my eldest son wanted to attend a very special (and pricey) summer STEM program. We decided to try our luck at a new craft as a fundraising effort so I started as many moms do these days – a Pinterest search. Together we picked out a cute and simple cactus crochet pattern. Our first attempt was definitely a #PinterestFail - but we continued to research and learn (thank you maker community!) and we hit our fundraising goal!

While my son made it to his summer program I unintentionally sparked a creative outlet.

Since that small little deformed cactus, my plushies have increased in difficulty and workmanship. After demand continued to increase in my local community (thank you family and friends!) RokkitCrafts was officially formed with the opening of an Etsy shop which officially kicked off in August 2018. Not soon after a website was developed.

I am thrilled to showcase the many years of items I’ve created with the launch of a new site in 2022 and celebrate being a Star Seller on Etsy.

Oh, and that little cactus remains in my son’s room (now a teenager), never to be sold, as a reminder of the importance of a challenge!

About the Maker

2022-03-23 Bao Dumpling - Rokkit Crafts.png

On a normal day I can be found in the marketing and advocacy department at my family’s genetic-focused/tech startup working and jamming to music. Never too far away are my kids and pup, who inspire many of my creations and keep me oh so busy. At night, my creative side comes out as I hunt down adorable designs to recreate for my growing business.

As a single mom of three boys, I am always looking for ways to help support my kids and the community. I am a proud woman-owned, LGBTQ+-friendly small business owner in Westborough, MA and. I like to use the support of our community to teach my children the importance of understanding our privilege and support the fundraising efforts of charities who are doing important work. Currently donation recipients include: KrabbeConnect, FSIG, ThinkGenetic Foundation, Hope for Pompe, Uplift, and Out Metrowest. I encourage you to take a look at the incredible work these organizations are doing on our Charity Donation page.
